A mission’s event, held in BCC every six months, happened this weekend. For the first time, the event featured live transmissions sent simultaneously from studios in Switzerland and Norway. The event became an inspiration to live a life of faith, at a time when the pandemic has reduced the possibilities to gather for normal services.

The mission’s event is one of the many highlights throughout the year where we gather as an entire church community. This fall the local church in Switzerland hosted, and they had prepared an inspiring and diversified online broadcast.
Voluntary work for the sake of the gospel
The hosts spent the past year working on preparations, and many of the original plans changed along the way due to the Covid-19 pandemic. None of the change affected the result, and the broadcast went seamlessly between two different studios, including both live features, and films produced beforehand. All of the content was planned and produced by the local church in Switzerland and was distributed in cooperation with BCC’s media department.
One of the producers, Tobias Bäuerle, tells that both young and old contributed, dedicating several thousand volunteer hours to the preparations and execution of the event.
“Approximately 200 people have been involved in the project. Our members dedicated a lot of time and energy to the event to make it an inspiring broadcast for fellow believers around the world”, he says.

A new monetary record was reached for missionary work
There was extra appreciation from the hosts that the feats collection was a record-breaking 22.6 million Norwegian kroner, which will go to support church and missionary work in BCC.
“We who live in Switzerland are edified every week by the TV transmissions from BCC, so it has been extra rewarding to be along ourselves by hosting this event. In this way, we can contribute to missionary work. Our goal is that more people will be able to hear the message of the gospel”, says Tobias Bäuerle.

The gospel is the light of life
The theme for the event was “The light of life” and the elements in the broadcast showed how the gospel is able to change lives and make people happy. The theme came from the verses in John 8: 12, which says, “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” The liberation that is in the gospel came out through films, music, speeches, and testimonies.
Youth and young adults were the target audience for this event. The media features including song and music appealing especially to this group. Here you can see one of the music features from the event.
