“It helps me become a better husband and father”

The Brothers’ Conference is underway, and participants have come from all over the world – including the Netherlands, Poland, several African countries, and even Australia.

Two who have traveled all the way from Africa are Alexis and Jacques from Douala, Cameroon.

Alexis’ journey began early in the morning. He got up at six o’clock to leave home before rush hour. Taking three flights, via Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and Stockholm, he traveled from 30°C (86°F) in Cameroon to 9°C (48°F) in Oslo.

Jacques also traveled from Douala. For him, the journey itself is already part of the experience:

“What makes the trip special is the time spent with friends on the plane. We’re away from everyday life and have more time for fellowship. Most of all, we get to have heart-to-heart conversations with brothers who share the same faith.”

At the baggage claim at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, they already met the first friends from other countries. Together they took the bus to Brunstad, where even more friends from many countries were waiting.

The 29-hour journey is worth it, says Alexis:

“There is a strong spirit of revival in Brunstad, and I want to be there to experience it. I hope to take the spirit of revival home with me, along with more humility, more joy, and more rest in all circumstances.”

“A better husband and father”

Alexandre from Yaoundé, Cameroon, says the conference means a lot to him and to his whole family.

“The words I hear here help me become a better husband and father. And, most importantly, they teach me how to become a better disciple in the church where I live.”

What he hears at Brunstad shapes his everyday life even after he returns home:

“Family life becomes more pleasant, and working together with friends is marked by deep gratitude toward everyone.”

Longing for the same goal

But most important of all are the word and the fellowship, says Jacques:

“We get to hear a clear word of God from Kåre J. Smith and other brothers, and we can share testimonies with brothers from all over the world who long for the same goal.”
