Does BCC impose its views regarding homosexual relationships on others?

BCC has a traditional view of Christian relationship morals, and in our churches, we choose to live according to what the Bible states. We do not expect that everyone shares our view on this, and do not judge anyone for thinking differently.

By Harald Kronstad, member of the BCC Board of Trustees

Our view regarding homosexual relationships applies to our churches. Beyond that, we have no interest in interfering with how others think. We fully respect everyone’s right to make personal choices based on the rights set by society.

BCC wishes to show both respect and kindness towards all people and will in no way impose our views regarding relationship morals or other issues on other people.

A traditional view of Christian relationship morals

The Bible clearly defines marriage between a man and woman as the framework for relationships. This is a traditional Christian understanding, which a large part of society still practices. We have neither the authority nor the desire to change the word of God, and maintain the Bible’s view of relationship morals. This has nothing to do with discrimination.

The teaching in BCC has no intention of affecting sexual orientation, and we do not believe in gay therapy as a method or “treatment”. Saying no to homosexual relationships does not diminish our respect for all people, regardless of sexual orientation, and we do not see it as a limitation for living a fulfilling Christian life.homofili

We should be allowed to live in peace with unique viewpoints

We value the freedom of religion and human rights we have in Norway and want all people to have the same freedom to think, believe and express what they want.

In order to be able to live in peace with different viewpoints, also in regard to issues around relationship morals, we hope that respect and kindness can go both ways in today’s society. The opposite is discrimination, regardless of which side it comes from.
