New Year’s dinner for employees

For the first time since the corona pandemic, all employees gathered for a New Year's dinner. The longest-serving employees have been here for 15 years, while some have just started.

Before the festive dinner, Berit Hustad Nilsen, on behalf of the Secretariat, welcomed everyone to the Glenne Gård function rooms and thanked the employees for their efforts.

Be followers of what is good

Kåre J. Smith gave the evening’s keynote speech:

“Who can hurt you when you are a follower of what is good?” he asked, based on the Bible passage in 1 Peter 3:13.

He exhorted us to allow the evil we encounter to become an opportunity to show goodness, that is, to overcome evil with good. He went on to say that this was the way Jesus walked, and when we walk this way, the life of Jesus is manifested in us more and more as time goes by.

“Even if you’re Christian, you need to hear this,” Smith said as a friendly reminder.

The message made an impression on the employees, and when the floor was opened, around 20 employees stepped forward to speak.

“What a message!” beamed Carolin. She works as a music producer.

“If we all live this, the workplace will become heavenly.”

A job with an extra dimension

After dinner there was a church history quiz and musical entertainment.

“It gave me an extra boost to see and experience how grateful and dedicated everyone is in their work.

The fact that Kåre Smith was present and reminded us to do our work as well as possible – with joy and gratitude – meant a lot. The focus on good collaboration, on growing as a team and on personal development, by taking God’s word into practical working life, was both inspiring and unifying.”

“Alongside my studies, I work as a project manager in BCC Norway – we help local churches with efficient association operations.

I enjoy my job and am grateful for the great workplace I get to be a part of. Being able to work for a faith that I’m personally passionate about adds an extra meaningful dimension to my work.”
