“There’s a magical atmosphere here,” says Rune, who plays the lead role of Joshua.

On this Saturday morning in April, the Årvoll Conference Center in Moss is bustling with activity. Actors of all ages sing, dance, and rehearse their lines. They are motivated and cheer each other on, while approaching the task with humility.
“You can’t approach a story like this superficially,” explains Rune.
– Joshua was a man of faith, and it is precisely that spirit of faith that we want to instill in the children’s hearts. They will experience that their faith in God is strengthened through what we share with them.
A faith-inspiring story, vividly told
With colorful sets and costumes, live music, and a powerful message, this musical takes the audience back to one of the Bible’s many faith strengthening stories.

In the performance, we follow Joshua and the people of Israel as they stand on the threshold of the Promised Land—filled with fear and faith, and facing enormous challenges. Things are about to get exciting when Joshua sends the two young scouts, Benjamin and Palt, on a dangerous mission into Jericho. While Palt is fearless and impulsive, Benjamin is more cautious and hesitant. How do they get along, given their very different personalities?

Central coordination and local implementation
The script and music for the musical were produced by BCC Media and BCC Music.
– There is much we can learn from this story, not least about faith and being obedient to that faith. “It was precisely their obedience to God that enabled Israel to take possession of the Promised Land and see the walls come tumbling down,” says director Astrid Hauptmann.

“We may also find that the ‘walls’ come crashing down in our lives when we turn to God in the spirit of faith,” she says.
A great start to the rehearsals
Director Astrid says that the first rehearsal weekend has been a very good start.
– Both young and old were so positive and enthusiastic that we managed to accomplish an incredible amount in a short time.

Tonje Gihl, who is helping with the cast and crew, is also pleased with the launch:
– It’s so much fun to see everyone together for the first time. It’s so cool to see how talented the actors are and how quickly they pick up on the direction.
In addition, there are many key roles—such as choreographers, seamstresses, and many others on the crew—who do a solid job at a high level.
“I feel very lucky to be a part of this project,” says Tonje.
Looking forward to performing
The oldest actors are in their 80s, while the youngest are elementary school-age. For many, learning the lines, songs, and dances has been a challenge—but energy and joy shine through in every single scene.

“The best part will be performing the play for an audience,” says Ole (10), one of the young actors.
As summer approaches, we have several rehearsal weekends ahead of us, not to mention the dress rehearsal before the big performance at the summer conference in Brunstad.
“The musical is going to be really good, so there’s plenty to look forward to,” says Tonje.
