Det er verdt \u00e5 feire det som har skjedd i de 20 \u00e5rene som har g\u00e5tt siden vi f\u00f8rste gang var samlet til s\u00f8strestevne \u2013 et eget stevne for kvinner i alderen 13 til godt over hundre \u00e5r.<\/p>\n\n

Alle fellesskap har en kultur, og den er ofte preget av tradisjon og \u00abuskrevne regler\u00bb. Slik er det ogs\u00e5 i BCC. Og s\u00e5 har vi alle et ansvar for \u00e5 bidra til en positiv utvikling i den tid vi lever i. For \u00e5 f\u00e5 til det er det viktig \u00e5 kjenne v\u00e5r historie. Men vi m\u00e5 ogs\u00e5 v\u00e6re interessert i \u00e5 forme v\u00e5r fremtid.<\/p>\n\n

Gud trenger b\u00e5de kvinner og menn som medarbeidere<\/h2>\n\n

Med Bibelen som basis og rettesnor har vi en l\u00e6re som springer ut fra den. Ut fra dette er vi opptatt av \u00e5 finne hva som er Guds plan og vilje for menigheten. I BCC har vi jobbet aktivt med \u00e5 utvikle trossamfunnet, og her har s\u00f8strestevnene v\u00e6rt et viktig tiltak. For vi tror ikke det var Guds intensjon at 50% av menigheten skulle v\u00e6re inaktive i liv og tjeneste.<\/p>\n\n

Paulus er tydelig p\u00e5 at i Kristus er ikke kvinnen noe fremfor mannen, men heller ikke mannen noe fremfor kvinnen (1. Korinterbrev 11,11). Han skrev for eksempel om et mangfold av tjenester, der b\u00e5de kvinner og menn var nyttige medarbeidere, og hadde selv et omfattende samarbeid med flere kvinner i sin tjeneste.<\/p>\n\n

Jesus ekskluderte p\u00e5 ingen m\u00e5te kvinner fra sin n\u00e6re omgangskrets. Det er kvinnene Jesus viser seg for f\u00f8rst, etter sin oppstandelse. Og det er ganske interessant at han gir kvinnene ikke bare tillatelse til, men ogs\u00e5 ansvar for, \u00e5 forkynne evangeliet om Jesus, hans d\u00f8d og oppstandelse, da han sier: \u00abmen g\u00e5 til br\u00f8drene mine og si til dem: Jeg farer opp til min Far og deres Far, min Gud og deres Gud!\u00bb (Johannesevangeliet 20,17).<\/p>\n\n

Tok et oppgj\u00f8r med de som ville begrense kvinners rettigheter i menighetslivet<\/h2>\n\n

Grunnleggeren av v\u00e5rt trossamfunn, Johan O. Smith (1871-1943), var opptatt av rettferdig behandling av kvinnene, og han satte kvinner til viktige oppgaver i menighetene. Tidlig p\u00e5 1900-tallet tok han et oppgj\u00f8r med de som ville begrense kvinners rettigheter i menighetslivet, ved \u00e5 henvise til Guds ord. Han pekte blant annet p\u00e5 at Paulus anbefalte menigheten i Roma \u00e5 ta imot F\u00f8be i Herren, for hun var en menighetstjenerinne som de skulle sette pris p\u00e5 og st\u00f8tte i alle ting (Romerne 16, 1-2).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

S\u00e5 viser den videre historien at dette med kvinnens plass i menigheten gradvis kom inn i en mer negativ utvikling kulturelt sett. Dette er gjenkjennelig fra flere kirkesamfunn, hvor kulturen mange steder ble begrensende i stedet for \u00e5 legge til rette for utfoldelse. <\/p>\n\n

Dette preget ogs\u00e5 v\u00e5rt trossamfunn i flere ti\u00e5r.<\/p>\n\n

En kulturrevolusjon<\/h2>\n\n

Men s\u00e5 skjedde det en tydelig dreining for cirka 30 \u00e5r siden. Mange av oss husker tydelig hvor befriende det var at K\u00e5re J. Smith, som den gangen tok over som \u00e5ndelig leder, begynte \u00e5 gj\u00f8re grep for at menigheten skulle komme tilbake p\u00e5 sunne spor – ogs\u00e5 n\u00e5r det gjelder kvinnens plass i menigheten. Siden den gang har vi opplevd en gradvis og positiv utvikling i kulturen. Vi kaller det en stilleg\u00e5ende kulturrevolusjon.<\/p>\n\n

De siste \u00e5rene har vi jobbet aktivt for \u00e5 finne tilbake til slik menigheten var fra begynnelsen, b\u00e5de p\u00e5 dette og flere andre omr\u00e5der. Og vi ser resultater allerede. I dag er b\u00e5de kvinner og menn aktive i ulike tjenester, for \u00e5 bidra til \u00e5 oppfylle Jesus misjonsbefaling.<\/p>\n\n

Den eneste rollen vi har som i dag er forbeholdt menn er \u00e5 v\u00e6re forstander, eller eldste. Det er ikke et absolutt krav, men p\u00e5 bakgrunn av BCCs forst\u00e5else av det Paulus skriver til b\u00e5de Efeserne, Korinterne, Timoteus og Titus, vil menn velges som forstandere s\u00e5 langt det finnes noen som er egnet til oppgaven. <\/p>\n\n

Vi sier ikke at alt er perfekt hos oss n\u00e5r det gjelder kvinners tjeneste enn\u00e5. Vi har fortsatt en del \u00e5 g\u00e5 p\u00e5 for \u00e5 endre kulturen. Og vi jobber med \u00e5 utvikle, ikke bare kultur, men ogs\u00e5 struktur, slik at det blir enklere \u00e5 bidra.<\/p>\n\n

Felles retning og konkrete tiltak gir resultater<\/h2>\n\n

De senere \u00e5rene har vi blant annet gjort aktive tiltak for \u00e5 \u00f8ke kvinneandelen i styrer og i representantskapet, som er \u00f8verste myndighet i alle praktiske, juridiske og \u00f8konomiske sp\u00f8rsm\u00e5l i BCC-forbundet. For \u00e5 oppn\u00e5 dette har vi holdt seminarer for sentrale utvalg og ledere, der kj\u00f8nnsbalanse nevnes som en viktig faktor ved vurderingen av kandidater til ulike verv.\u00a0Og valgkomiteene, som har til oppgave \u00e5 nominere personer til sentrale verv, har blitt utfordret p\u00e5 \u00e5 innstille kvinnelige kandidater til posisjoner som tidligere ofte ble besatt av menn.<\/p>\n\n

Lokalmenighetenes \u00e5rsm\u00f8te, som best\u00e5r av alle medlemmer i den enkelte lokalmenighet, har blitt oppfordret til \u00e5 etterstrebe kj\u00f8nnsbalanse ved valg til sentrale roller.<\/p>\n\n

Det viser seg dessverre at kvinner oftere svarer nei til verv enn menn, s\u00e5 det krever en ekstra innsats \u00e5 jobbe med kultur. En viktig faktor for oss er at forstanderskapet, som er det \u00f8verste organ for tro og l\u00e6re, aktivt har st\u00f8ttet utviklingen p\u00e5 dette omr\u00e5det. Skal det bli kulturendring, m\u00e5 alle ledere st\u00e5 samlet om at dette er noe vi \u00f8nsker, ellers vil det ikke skje.<\/p>\n\n

Vi har ogs\u00e5 jobbet for \u00e5 l\u00e6re opp ungdomsarbeidere, noe som allerede viser seg \u00e5 v\u00e6re positivt med tanke p\u00e5 \u00e5 f\u00e5 den kvinnelige halvdelen av menigheten enda mer engasjert. B\u00e5de unge kvinner og menn er mentorer som har ansvar og omsorg i ungdomsarbeidet. Slik \u00f8nsker vi \u00e5 bygge en sunn kultur som vi tror vil vise resultater videre i nye generasjoner.<\/p>\n\n

Hovedsaken er \u00e5 utrette noe for Guds rikes sak<\/h2>\n\n

Vi tror det er stort potensiale i \u00e5 f\u00e5 flest mulig til \u00e5 bli aktive medarbeidere i menighetene. For hovedform\u00e5let med v\u00e5rt engasjement er f\u00f8rst og fremst \u00e5 dele det budskapet Jesus kom med, og f\u00e5 utrettet noe for Guds rikes sak.<\/p>\n\n

Og en ting er sikkert: Her trengs det b\u00e5de kvinner og menn med et brennende engasjement for Kristus og for menigheten. Vi gratulerer med 20-\u00e5rsjubileet for s\u00f8strestevner, og ser fram til \u00e5 v\u00e6re med p\u00e5 den videre utviklingen.<\/p>\n\n

This year, we are celebrating 20 years of women in BCC gathering for their own conferences. Introducing sisters’ conferences has been one of many measures that have helped the church to develop for the better for women.
