This <\/span><\/span>weekend the Brunstad Youth Club arranged an online summer camp for 6,800 members throughout the entire world. <\/span><\/span>The <\/span><\/span>c<\/span><\/span>orona <\/span><\/span>p<\/span><\/span>andemic caused several <\/span><\/span>limitations<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span><\/span> but<\/span><\/span> has also <\/span><\/span>created<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>new ways of gathering. This year more youth than at any time before <\/span><\/span>were<\/span><\/span><\/span> able to participate locally.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Originally it was planned<\/span> for<\/span> several thousand youth <\/span>to attend <\/span>the summer camp in <\/span>V<\/span>estfold in Norway at the end of July. However, when it became apparent<\/span> that<\/span> the camp would have to be cance<\/span>l<\/span>led, the Brunstad Youth Club (BUK) decided to develop a completely new <\/span>online <\/span>event,<\/span> <\/span>held in conjunction with local <\/span>activities<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span>Because<\/span> participants<\/span> were<\/span> <\/span>able to <\/span>monitor one another from their own location, <\/span>they were<\/span> –<\/span> in a sense<\/span> –<\/span> meeting<\/span> together anyway. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original plans were ultimately replaced with a new and diverse online program from BUK. At the same time, d<\/span>edicated people from <\/span>all<\/span> 35 countries labored to make their own unique camps within their local youth groups. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c<\/span>The summer<\/span> <\/span>camp was twofold<\/span> –<\/span> many things were happening locally<\/span>, and through<\/span> <\/span>common gathering points online<\/span>,<\/span> where you could get glimpses of what was taking place in many of the other clubs. <\/span>The <\/span>c<\/span>orona <\/span>p<\/span>andemic has brought about<\/span> <\/span>vari<\/span>ous<\/span> national directives that must be <\/span>adhered to<\/span>, but one thing is common<\/span> to all<\/span>: that everyone has a part in our community through our online program,<\/span>\u201d<\/span> say<\/span>s<\/span> Peter <\/span>Tischhauser<\/span>, leader of the Brunstad Youth Club. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Online camp <\/span>has record <\/span>registration <\/span>number<\/span>s<\/span> <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Tischhauser<\/span> <\/span>relates how they originally expected about 4,000 participants at the summer camp, but the online camp made space for many more<\/span>:<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cW<\/span>e presently have a total of 6,800 youth who will follow the online program, and they come from all parts of the world.<\/span>\u201d<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He speaks highly of all<\/span> the dedicated leaders and parents that <\/span>made<\/span> a massive effort to plan the local <\/span>camps<\/span>,<\/span> and<\/span> is impressed at the level of creativity and the scale of what they come up with. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c<\/span>Many <\/span>take hikes, some clubs borrow one <\/span>another\u2019s<\/span> meeting hall and create fabulous experiences with the possibilities at their disposal. <\/span>For example, we have youth clubs who have traveled to mountains and fjords<\/span>,<\/span> and organized activities such as <\/span>Via Ferrata, <\/span>kayaking<\/span>, riding, <\/span>water sports, and much more. Some have rented LED screens <\/span>to<\/span> follow the broadcasts outdoors.  In addition to this<\/span>,<\/span> several of the clubs contribute<\/span>d<\/span> by sending in film clips and tidbits that <\/span>we<\/span> use for<\/span> <\/span>our shared gatherings.<\/span>\u201d<\/span> <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

BUK <\/span>headquarters has <\/span>distributed<\/span> several suggested activities<\/span>,<\/span> <\/span>and<\/span> additional material so<\/span> that<\/span> the <\/span>local<\/span> camps can be decorated in the same way. Everything was done to create unity and an atmosphere of togetherness, regardless of borders.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    BCC Online <\/span>contributes with <\/span>TV-<\/span> broadcasts and programming<\/span> <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    There were five evening broadcasts from BUK headquarters during the four days of the camp, with an additional 3 <\/span>morning <\/span>broadcasts f<\/span>rom<\/span> different locations in North America, Africa, and Europe. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Summer Camp Online is a joint effort between the Brunstad Youth Club, the local BUK clubs, and BCC.  All the broadcasts are via the BCC Online platforms, and the TV crew from BCC is on the job throughout the entire weekend. <\/span>Tischhauser<\/span> <\/span>relates that several youth workers and church leaders from BCC will also participate with edification<\/span>:<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201c<\/span>We have a common desire to inspire the young people to live an active Christian life<\/span>,<\/span> so they can experience what faith can do for them, and the joy i<\/span>t<\/span> brings both now and for the remainder <\/span>of their lives. <\/span>There will not be any long and dry broadcasts, but <\/span>a<\/span> Christian message for young people<\/span> through a program and presentation<\/span> <\/span>that is<\/span> tailored to them and their needs.<\/span>\u201d<\/span> <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    He relates how the combination of activities during the day, <\/span>entertainment<\/span> and e<\/span>difying <\/span>messages <\/span>in the evening<\/span>,<\/span> has been a proven success in previous camps.<\/span> “<\/span>We intend to carry this <\/span>further and<\/span> do all that we can so the broadcasts and the camps <\/span>will<\/span> be experienced as a real high-point for <\/span>all<\/span> our participants.” <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
