For BCC members around the world, summertime and the conference at Oslofjord Convention Center is the high point all look forward to. This weekend, around 100 representatives from local churches were invited to plan the conferences occurring in summer 2018, which is excpected be the best conference to date.<\/h4>\n

The summer conference has been held annually at Brunstad since 1957, and the last 12 years BCC has held two conference events each summer to ensure there is enough space for all members who wish to attend. \u201cSummer 2018 has been chosen as the launch season for a new conference model,\u201d says Bj\u00f8rn Nilsen.<\/p>\n

He has attended all 60 summer conference events held at Brunstad since he was a child, and his best childhood memories are from these times. Now he is excited to be along in the development of future church events and conferences.<\/p>\n

To Greater Heights<\/h4>\n

\u201cWe are building on the same spiritual content as when I was a child, even though the structure and organization are being updated,\u201d continues Nilsen. \u201cThere are always greater heights that can be achieved and that is why we have gathered today. We want to strengthen the cooperation between the organizers, which are local churches, and Oslofjord Convention Center, as the hosting locale. We have a slogan, and that is \u2018Brunstad to Greater Heights!\u2019\u201d he says, enthusiastically.<\/p>\n

What <\/span><\/span>u<\/span><\/span>nites us<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/h4>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/span>The theme for this gathering i<\/span><\/span>s the <\/span><\/span>overall <\/span><\/span>structure, <\/span><\/span>as well<\/span><\/span> the options we wish to offer during our conferences<\/span><\/span>, but <\/span><\/span>what has brought us together all these years is the spiritual dimension we experience here,\u201d says <\/span><\/span>Trind<\/span><\/span> Eriksen during his welcome speech.<\/span><\/span>  <\/span><\/span>\u201cEven though it is our faith teachings and the Christian gospel that brings us together for conferences, it is also our goal that those who choose to invest time and money to come to <\/span><\/span>Brunstad<\/span><\/span> have a good experience here.\u201d<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Eriksen pointed out that Oslofjord Convention Center has the main responsibility to fulfill these expectations, in cooperation with BCCs event department.  In addition, BCC has challenged the local churches to contribute <\/span><\/span>with <\/span><\/span>program elements <\/span><\/span>to<\/span><\/span> create depth and variation. <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Conference weeks with varied content<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/h4>\n

Among other changes, the <\/span><\/span>new event <\/span><\/span>plan combin<\/span><\/span>es<\/span><\/span> what was previously two summer conferences into one long conference period contain<\/span><\/span>ing<\/span><\/span> days with faith gatherings, free days, and activity days<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span> as well as days combining all three of these concepts.  The summer conference will be arrange<\/span><\/span>d<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>with<\/span><\/span> meetings and activities for different target groups spread through the whole conference period so that the whole family has <\/span><\/span>an enjoyable experience<\/span><\/span> while at <\/span><\/span>Brunstad<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Cooperation with local churches <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/h4>\n

To accomplish <\/span><\/span>more than <\/span><\/span>three consecutive weeks of conference activities and events, BCC is depending on assistance from the local churches in addition to cooperation with Oslofjord Convention Center which is hosting the event.  It is for this reason that BCC invited representatives from 37 local churches in 9 countries to an inspirational weekend to <\/span><\/span>brainstorm and <\/span><\/span>develop a program<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are mobilizing efforts for a broad plan.  Summer 2018 is going to be the best summer conference held at <\/span><\/span>Brunstad<\/span><\/span> so far,\u201d says <\/span><\/span>Lise<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>Larsen, who runs<\/span><\/span> the<\/span><\/span> BBCs event department. \u201cThere will be nothing missing for children, youth, adults and seniors during th<\/span><\/span>is period<\/span><\/span>, and we want to increase the interest level for coming here.  We want to have something for everybody and have many high points<\/span><\/span> scattered<\/span><\/span> throughout.\u201d<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

New Facilities<\/span><\/span> that allows for new plans<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/h4>\n

The structure of the center is also under development, and the ongoing construction at Oslofjord Convention <\/span><\/span>C<\/span><\/span>enter will increase opportunities for enjoyment for guests visiting the area in future years.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The assembly started with an exciting presentation of Oslofjord Convention Center<\/span><\/span>\u2019<\/span><\/span>s new activity center <\/span><\/span>opening next winter and was followed by information, inspiration, and presentation of the weekend<\/span><\/span>\u2019<\/span><\/span>s <\/span><\/span>tasks for <\/span><\/span>the upcoming summer conference<\/span><\/span>. Tore J\u00f8rgensen, administrative director of Oslofjord Convention Center, presented the plans Oslofjord Convention Center is developing in line with BCCs goals for its conferences.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Local involvement and projects to bring home<\/h4>\n

Sunday morning, the work continued in groups, where local representatives chose some ideas for further development. Before the assembly was concluded on Sunday afternoon,<\/span><\/span> the groups presented their ideas and plans to one another.  There were many enthusiastic representatives who <\/span><\/span>wanted to include <\/span><\/span>their local churches in brainstorming ideas <\/span><\/span>for new<\/span><\/span> program elements for the summer conferences.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Contributing what we can<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/h4>\n

One person who <\/span><\/span>was <\/span><\/span>looking forward to taking vacation at BCCs conferences in Norway was Lucy Savage from <\/span><\/span>Didcot<\/span><\/span>, England. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are t<\/span><\/span>w<\/span><\/span>o local churches in England, and we want to contribute to a<\/span><\/span> positive experience with musical shows for the who<\/span><\/span>le<\/span><\/span> famil<\/span><\/span>y<\/span><\/span>,\u201d she says.  \u201cWe have many resources in this area, and we could hold a concert during the conference.  So now we are going to go home and ask our members if this could be our contribution to this summer,\u201d she smiles.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Berit <\/span><\/span>Gangs\u00f8<\/span><\/span> from <\/span><\/span>Sandefjord<\/span><\/span> was one of the Norwegian participants, and one of those who really wants everyone to feel a warm welcome to the conferenc<\/span><\/span>e<\/span><\/span>.  \u201cWe have the advantage <\/span><\/span>of living<\/span><\/span> near <\/span><\/span>Brunstad<\/span><\/span> and<\/span><\/span> would like to<\/span><\/span> arrange a welcome party for <\/span><\/span>all <\/span><\/span>international friends.\u201d<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Expectations for the summer conference are high<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/h4>\n

Lis<\/span><\/span>e<\/span><\/span> Larsen says that the representatives, who were very enthusiastic participa<\/span><\/span>nts<\/span><\/span> in the <\/span><\/span>planning of the <\/span><\/span>conference weeks<\/span><\/span>, will<\/span><\/span> go home and develop their projects<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span>furthe<\/span><\/span>r<\/span><\/span> together with the members of their local churches.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

As a representative for the arrangement, she is very satisfied with the outcome of the weekend and all the suggestions that have been submitted so far.  If one can judge the upcoming conference by the enthusiasm of the seminar, then <\/span><\/span>none of the expectations for this Summer Conference 2018 will be disappointed.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
