Twice every six months a mission collection is taken up. This collection is budgeted for, and the local churches have been following this model for a long time.
The Board of Representatives decides on the purpose of the collection. It could be a digital mission, a mission in Africa or another important initiative. This time the purpose is to support BCC Event’s activities.
– We have asked if we can receive the collection as part of the plan for all members to be able to come to the conferences, either physically or digitally, says Peter Tischhauser, who heads BCC Event.
He states that the same will be done next year, and thereafter the conferences will be able to be financed via the donor service alone.
This is how the collection takes place
A local church is given the responsibility for leading the collection drive, and this time it is BCC Bergen. They in turn coordinate with the contacts from other churches in every country, and together they generate a commitment to bring in NOK 25 million.
Never before have things gone so fast. One of those who has been along in the collection drive is Einar Johnsen from Bergen. This is how he describes it:
– Just this last week, I was completely dumbfounded over our friends’ incredible generosity and willingness to give. It was just like experiencing the widow in Zarephath where the bin of flour and the jar of oil never ran dry. God is the one who works both to will and to do. I Just want to shout out HALLELUJA for what we are experiencing.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the cause. Although the goal has been reached, it is still possible to contribute until November.
