A sporty evening

The two enthusiasts Alicia Skutle and Benedikte Reiersrud are standing in front of an enthusiastic crowd of around 170 young people. The program for the evening is hectic and participation is intense.

“We are proud to present a well-planned next season and will organize several meets in Horten, Grenland and Bergen (Norway) during 2017. Tonight’s celebration is just the start of a season that will be the best ever!” Benedikte is smiling from ear to ear on the stage, and we allow ourselves to be caught up in her enthusiasm.

The evening creates great expectations for next year, but last year’s season also has to be mentioned. “Through unity, exercise and activity we have become better at creating social ties, but also at creating a good team spirit and playing technically good volleyball,” says Alicia, who is one of the leaders in the group.

An evening with thorough preparation

The entertainment begins with memories of the previous year, which is received with applause and loud cheering. There is no doubt that the enthusiastic audience is ready for the season to start again.

Several local teams have prepared entertainment, so the evening is filled with humorous items and laughter. The youth that have come together here have a common interest in the Christian faith, so there will be some words for reflection and encouragement during the evening.

Preparations for the event have been going on for some time, and Hilda L. Olsen is one of those who have spent their spare time in recent weeks getting the technical side of things in place. She is glad that the event is going according to plan.

“There are a number of details to keep track of, so we have worked a lot with the technical areas of sound, light and picture, but it is very inspiring to be here when so many girls with the same interest get together for such an evening!”

Partner for BCC

It is the members of the youth association Xercize that have come together in Østfold, Norway, this weekend and the participants here are particularly interested in volleyball. The association organizes camps, competitions and activities, and facilitate youth who want to be in a Christian environment. “Volleyball has become a popular sport in many of BCC’s youth environments, and then Xercize’s local teams are an important partner to ensure that the environment created can include everyone. An event like this provides a real kick-start to the season and creates enthusiasm and motivation among the girls,” Benedikte concludes.
